Hyderabad Golf Club

The Hyderabad Golf Club was founded in the year 1888 and is an eighteen hole, PAR 72 course. It offers a distance of 6,434 yards and spreads out over 160 acres. Since the army has taken over the care and maintenance of the course the browns have now been converted to greens. The course offers beautiful surroundings and contains a natural lake. The course itself stretches in the Nava Quila.

The Hyderabad Golf Course was designed to preserve the ecological balance while still accentuating the historical setting surrounding the course. The Hyderabad Golf Association was formed in 1993 by golfers who were interested in promoting the game in the Twin City area. This association sent representatives to the government to try to encourage them to see the importance of the golf course. They asked for and received an allotment of land which would make a suitable golf course. A Chief Minister shared their vision and recognized the need for improvement in the local area so that they could attract potential investors and tourists. The government decided to allot them a site which is located near the historic Golconda Fort.

The Hyderabad Golf Association plans to build a modern club house which will offer all of the facilities and amenities needed to attract families to the area. The plans are to cater to the club members, associates, and the families of the club members. Plans include a restaurant, bar, health club, gymnasium, locker rooms, and shower facilities. They are also going to add squash courts, snooker and billiard rooms, card rooms, conference or party rooms, and a swimming pool for the entire family to enjoy. Future plans are also being made to add some residential rooms which will be a benefit for visitors from other areas. Currently there are rooms available in the inner city.

Hyderabad is now a desirable tourist destination which offers a unique experience. Here you can find a combination of northern and southern India cultures. There is a blend of several regional languages spoken here. You will find restaurants that offer rich and flavorful cuisine, festivals and fairs, and handmade crafts from the local area. Add all of this to the natural surrounding beauty and this an area you will greatly enjoy.
