Delhi Golf Club

The Delhi Golf Club was established in 1931 making it the oldest club in Delhi. It measures 6972 yards and is a PAR 72, 18 hole course. In 1977 and 1978 it was redesigned by Peter Thompson making it one of the most desirable courses in the country.

The Delhi Golf Club sets amidst monuments which have great historic value. Because of its archeological value it was originally named Lodhi Golf Course. It was given this name because it is surrounded by the tombs of the Lodhi dynasty which is located in Delhi. The course is set in a beautiful park-like setting which is surrounded by the 15th century tombs.

In 1982 the Delhi Golf Club was chosen to play host to the first golf tournament at the Asian games. Today the club is home to a variety of professional tournaments including the Indian open which is part of the highly acclaimed Asian PGA circuit.

Known as the busiest course in the country, the Delhi Golf Club welcomes more than 500 golfers every day. It features a nine hole B course which is attractive to the beginning golfer. For the more experienced golfer the first hole is 522 yards, PAR 5. The rough area contains thorny bushes which is a challenge for the advanced golfer.

There are over 300 species of birds which call the Delhi Golf Club home. It is not unusual for a golfer to have to wait for a colorful peacock to get out of his way. Often golfers get startled by the scurry of a partridge when they get too close to his surroundings. The course was also planted with over 200 different varieties of trees which make it a lush paradise.

The Delhi Golf Club is more than just a place to golf. The club has all of the facilities needed to provide you with a relaxing and enjoyable experience. You can take a dip in the swimming pool or flex your muscles in the new health club. If you need a little refreshment you can visit the pub to cool off after a busy day on the course. For larger parties there is also a bar and catering available to suit anybody’s needs.
